The next festival is about to happen on november 14th and 15th 2026. all infos can be found on the festival’s website.

Excuse me for keeping things short this time but 2026 saw us moving from one flat to the other – after 26 years my first attempt on moving tons (!) of records and books. Also, my freelance business provided me with work all through the summer – no holidays as others do… Last not least organizing the festival this time demanded a lot more attention than the first time, as we provide ten concerts across two days.

Plans to revive the label as a record (or tape) label are also postponed, mainly due to new packaging regulations in the EU that affect small businesses in financial and organisational aspects most can’t deal with. Some small labels stopped their businesses completely, so to me it doesn’t look like the right moment to start one myself.

But the numbering continues, if you’re around Germany / Würzburg in mid november you might enjoy a good dose of experimental music of all kinds.

As always, continuing a project after pausing it for more than a decade causes some frictions. After the performance of Rie Nakajima and an overwhelming audience the path was clear at least in one direction: There have to be more concerts and performances to please the people’s need for live events.

So Steffen Zeller of the Tonkünstlerverband Würzburg and myself are going one step further with organizing the first festival for experimental music here in Würzburg, Germany. It will take place on Sunday, December 14th, 2025, at the same venue. This time with more space(s), more performers, and more sonic adventures both for us and the curious audience we heartly welcome.

Rie Nakajima is a a sculptor living in London. She creates sounds using combination of motorised devices and daily objects. It can be installation or performance. Fusing sculpture and sound, her artistic practice is open to chance and the influence of others.

The former logo has been reworked, hope you like it.

As the numbering stopped in 2011 with ex25, it’s the ideal choice to continue that numbering in 2025 in a new manner, starting with ex2501 – a live performance of sound/sculpture artist Rie Nakajima in Würzburg, Germany. „25“ now refers to the year of release, whereas „01“ starts a new numbering – ex2501, ex2502, ex2503, ex2604, ex2605, ex2706 etc.

Coming soon are more audio releases, this time on cassette (plus digital) – plans so far include first issues of archival recordings of German artist/sculptor Jan Polacek improvising on guitar (recorded 2008), as well as a lecture by German music critic Martin Büsser (recorded 1999), who passed away far too early in 2010, aged 42. Plans do also include reissues of rare, obscure, and long deleted items of the vast area of experimentation. There might even be a magazine appearing someday: Stay tuned…
